Girl Scout STEM Program
Offered FREE to all interested K-6th grade girls
2018-19 - No offerings available 2019-20
Wednesday, 3:30 to 5pm (girls may arrive as early at 3pm and join us for a recess before the program starts)
This 12 week education program uses a learn-by-doing model to bring scientific concepts to life with engaging, standards-based science and technology activities.
Opportunities to interact with female role models in STEM careers ignite girls' interest in and understanding of STEM and how it can help make the world a better place. This Girl Scout Discover Together program fosters leadership skills that will build confidence and equip girls to succeed in life, seek challenges, and make a difference.
The goals of the program include: Develop an understanding of what a water shed is, helping the girls to identify specific actions each can take to help protect watersheds, motivate and inspire girls to want to protect our watersheds, learn about pollutants and other factors effecting our water sheds, and over all to help the girls develop resourceful problem solving skills, teach them to seek out new challenges, work with others and feel as though they are empowered to make a difference in their communities and the world.
